The interview I never got paid for
The interview in this blog post was never meant to be shared here. I won’t get into the details (because it makes me kinda angry) but the short of it is an online company commissioned this interview, received it, then ghosted me and never paid for it.
But, the silver lining of the situation is that so now I get to share this with you. I hope you find it interesting. I think there are some great moments in this interview and it discusses many of the questions I commonly get asked. So grab a cuppa and have a listen.
The Coral Exhibition
I have been overwhelmed by the response to the CORAL exhibition. With over 85% of works selling in the opening weekend, to say I am blown away is an understatement.
I want to say a huge thank you to all of the supporters, collectors, and visitors to the exhibition. Your love and support means the world to me.
Needlexchange Podcast interview
I had a lovely chat with Jamie (AKA Mr Xstitch) recently for the NeedleXchange podcast. You can listen to the interview in the video below or wherever you get your podcasts.
The Mr X Stitch Contemporary Needlework Prize
I don’t usually enter awards or competitions, but there was just something about the Mr X Stitch Contemporary Needlework prize that tickled my fancy. So I threw my hat in the ring and to my surprise and delight - I won a prize! 2nd place in the Machine embroidery category. What an honor.
Textile Talk Podcast
I was honored to be recently interviewed by Gail from the School of Stitched Textiles. In our chat we discussed how I got into stitching, working with water-soluble fabric, threads, commissions, pricing artwork, working with galleries, and loads of other things.
So grab a cuppa and have a listen.
Nerd out on the Nautilus with me
If I was asked to choose a favorite animal, the Nautilus would be in my top five. It’s such a weird and wonderful creature. I studied the Chambered Nautilus (Nautilus pompilius) during the final year of my Natural History Illustration degree and loved nerding out on its anatomy and behavior. I filled pages of my sketchbooks with notes about it and even sculpted a lifelike model, complete with a real cutaway shell (his name is Neville).
Journaling with Nature Podcast
Recently I had the pleasure of chatting with Bethan from the Journaling with Nature podcast. We discussed many aspects of my life and practice including my love of nature and drawing. Bethan is a great interviewer, she was so easy to chat with and asked the best questions. I really enjoyed our chat and I hope you do too.

A peek into the studio (prep for my upcoming solo exhibition)
Coral, Coral, and more Coral.
That is what is going on in the studio at present.
With a solo show sceduled for later this year I am madly stitching away at new designs and I am loving the way things are going! The show is going to have a coral focus as I have dived deep into the world of these amazing and beautiful animals.
Making Zen Online Retreat 2023
I have been teaching online for a few years now and I love how it gives me the opportunity to share my work and knowledge with people all over the world. Today I want to tell you about an exciting, but slightly different online teaching event that I am a part of.
It’s called the Making Zen Online Retreat and it involves a beautiful group of people who you will just love to learn from. It is a ‘bundle’ event, where a group of people (creatives/artists/makers) gather together to offer you some of their online courses and learning. It’s always so fun and a really excellent way for you to meet, connect and find new people as well as learn lots of different techniques and have access to new projects.
Here’s how the Making Zen Retreat works:

These live sessions are only available during the allotted times and there will be no reply for the free access. If you’d like to be able to watch the courses and content at any time you like, whenever you like then I suggest you sign up for the all-access pass. This gives you ongoing access to watch all 20 of the projects and creative courses, as well as some extra bonuses. I’ve listed some of the artists and courses below, but you can see them all here.*

Ginkgo Branch
When I was approached recently to create a Ginkgo branch artwork for a commission it was like all of my Christmases and come at once. It’s no secret that I love stitching Ginkgo leaves, they are arguably one of my most iconic design motifs. I love any project that calls for a visit to Ginkgo town.
In this post, I discuss my design process and how I developed this particular Ginkgo branch design. I hope it will be interesting for those who are curious about that specific aspect of my practice.
Corallimorph Circle
There are some projects that come my way that I am just super excited to work on, and this large Corallimorph circle was one of them.
The Art of Cells
Earlier this year I was asked to be a part of a very exciting project that was both a challenge and a delight.
It was explained to me as a project that brought art and science together in a beautiful way. Naturally, I was intrigued.
