Every now and then a commission comes along that is really special. An idea that is not only right up my alley subject matter wise, but also has a beautiful story and meaning. This piece was one of those special ones and it has been a joy to work on from start to finish.

The interview I never got paid for
The interview in this blog post was never meant to be shared here. I won’t get into the details (because it makes me kinda angry) but the short of it is an online company commissioned this interview, received it, then ghosted me and never paid for it.
But, the silver lining of the situation is that so now I get to share this with you. I hope you find it interesting. I think there are some great moments in this interview and it discusses many of the questions I commonly get asked. So grab a cuppa and have a listen.

Nerd out on the Nautilus with me
If I was asked to choose a favorite animal, the Nautilus would be in my top five. It’s such a weird and wonderful creature. I studied the Chambered Nautilus (Nautilus pompilius) during the final year of my Natural History Illustration degree and loved nerding out on its anatomy and behavior. I filled pages of my sketchbooks with notes about it and even sculpted a lifelike model, complete with a real cutaway shell (his name is Neville).

Recently I had the pleasure of chatting with Bethan from the Journaling with Nature podcast. We discussed many aspects of my life and practice including my love of nature and drawing.
