Museum glass vs regular glass in framed artworks

When it comes to framing textile art, the right glass can make all the difference. A few years ago, I made the switch from standard glass to museum glass, and I haven’t looked back since.

Museum glass offers incredible clarity. Unlike regular glass, which often creates reflections or a slight haze, museum glass allows viewers to see every tiny detail of my embroidered work. It truly enhances the presentation of the piece, making it feel more vibrant and alive.

Another major advantage of this type of glass is UV protection. Museum glass blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays, which is essential for preserving textile artworks over time. Textiles are particularly vulnerable to light damage, and this extra layer of protection ensures that my work will last for generations.

Yes, museum glass does cost more, but the benefits far outweigh the extra expense. For any artist or collector who values both visual impact and long-term preservation, it’s worth the investment.
