I am excited to share with you a limited jewellery collection inspired by my embroidery artworks created in collaboration with Milan based jewellery designers Anna Reikher.
When Anna approached me last year and asked if I would be interested in working together to create a range of jewellery pieces based on my artwork designs - I jumped at the chance. Anna’s work is not only beautiful but her study of natures beauty and curiosities parallels my own so this collaborative project seemed like a the perfect match for our two small businesses.
Titled ‘The Botanical Collection’ this limited range of jewellery is inspired by some of my artworks that map the intricate veining systems found in leaves. I was sure to include my favourite leaf works in the range including Ginkgo’s, Nerve plants, Kidney ferns, Caladiums and Amazonian water lilies.
The collection features 14 jewellery pieces including rings, bracelets, pendants and earrings and I am delighted with them all. The range has perfectly captured the beauty and delicacy of my embroidery artworks in precious metals, creating wearable art pieces.
Ginkgo leaves have been one of my favourite motifs to explore in my embroidery art for over a decade so naturally I had to include a Ginkgo design in the collection.
A bit about Anna.
Anna Reikher, an Italian-based designer, seamlessly weaves intricate aesthetics into her creations, celebrating the splendor of the natural world. Her artistic journey began in early childhood, fueled by a passion for creativity that transcends borders. Her heart lies in nature’s diversity, finding inspiration in the kaleidoscope of colors found in insects, flora, and fauna. Their intricate anatomy and adaptability captivate her, and she translates these wonders into wearable art.
A note from Anna:
Collaborating with Meredith Woolnough has been an inspiring and rewarding journey. My work draws heavily from the beauty and intricacy of nature, and this collection allowed me to bring her stunning embroidery to life as fine jewelry. Using a combination of modern 3D printing and ancient lost wax casting methods, we translated her designs into elegant pieces that celebrate the delicate details of the natural world.
I grow Nerve Plants on my kitchen window sill and often get lost in their colourful and beautiful veining patterns when I should be washing up. These tiny leaves have inspired several of my artwork designs , the largest of which was the basis formed the basis of this jewellery design.
About the jewellery
The range is available in both sterling silver and 14k gold plated, and has been designed as feature pieces that you can dress up or down for day or evening wear.
To address the issues of landfill and over-consumerism this range will be produced on demand, to minimise production and precious metals material waist. Pleaser allow three weeks for production, we promise they will be worth the wait.
Worldwide shipping is available.
5% of each sale is donated to Anna’s charity partner Buglife, an organisation that aims to protect wildlife through the conservation of invertebrates and their habitat.
My ‘Amazonian Water Lily’ is one of my all time favourite pieces. It maps the supportive tubing system that is found on the underside of the amazing (and giant) leaves of the Victoria amazonia plant. It is wonderful to see this design now transformed into such a delicate wearable object.
