Phew … the 100 Embroideries Project is finally complete. Watch the little video below where I chat about the project. Then read on to learn about the exhibition, how to purchase these pieces, limited edition prints and a few more little insights into the project.
The ‘100 Embroideries Project’ is where I have focused the majority of my making energy this year. It has been a mammoth task that feels like it has taken over most of my waking hours. But it has been such a fun, creative journey.
I stitched and shared the first piece in the series late January 2020. This first piece was a little rainbow colour wheel. A simple ring of colourful dots. I wanted a fun, whimsical piece to start with and I think my ‘colour wheel’ fits that bill quite nicely.
Since then, I have been steadily making new embroideries for the project, releasing the images of each new artwork every few days on my Instagram and Facebook pages. Releasing the pieces on my social media as I made them has helped to keep me accountable and on track with the project. It has also been wonderful to see peoples reactions and responses to the different pieces as the series has progressed.
Flash forward, almost 6 months to the day after I created that first ring of colourful dots, I finished the 100th piece in the project.
Phew.
What a feeling.
For the final piece in the series, I decided to create another colourful circle piece, but this time I filled in the entire circle shape with lots of little stitched dots. I like the idea that the 1st and 100th piece are so similar. I think it gives the series a nice sense of symmetry.
This project is the focus of my next solo exhibition, which opens on the 15th of August at the Milk Factory Gallery in Bowral NSW. I can’t wait to see this whole series up on the gallery walls, finally all displayed together. What a treat that will be.
The exhibition details are below:
I have been blown away by the positive response to this series. I have felt like I have had a private little cheer squad motivating me to keep going over on my socials. I am honoured that so many people have taken an interest in the project and that so many of you are keen to purchase these works.
All of the pieces in the ‘100 Embroideries Project’ will be available for sale at the exhibition. The Milk Factory Gallery will be setting up an online shop just for the series to make sure that everyone will have an equal chance to purchase their favourite piece (or pieces) wherever you are in the world. The online shop will open 9am (Australian Eastern Standard Time) on the first day of the exhibition; 15th August 2020.
A few details about purchasing these works:
Pricing: $370.00AU each
Framing: Each piece in the ‘100 Embroideries Project’ is individually framed in a white box frame. The frame measures 20 x 20 x 4cm (width x height x depth). The frames have a hanging string on the back, they can also free-stand. Check out the little video (right) to see how the pieces are framed.
Shipping: Artworks will of course be available for sale (and collection) from the gallery itself. But if you can’t make it into the gallery, free shipping is available within Australia for the pieces in the ‘100 Embroideries Project’. International shipping is also available and will be calculated at checkout. Thankfully because the pieces are quite small and light even international shipping costs should be very affordable.
Any artworks sold will not be shipped until after the exhibition has closed (15th September 2020).
Please note that due to the current COVID19 situation we are unable to ship to certain countries and there are significant postal delays worldwide. Please get in touch with the gallery directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding international shipping.
Other Artworks in the Exhibition
While the ‘100 Embroideries Project’ is the main focus the exhibition I will also be exhibiting some other artworks in the show. These works are more in keeping with my regular work and include some much larger pieces. You can check out the portfolio of these other pieces below.

The first print is titled; ‘The First 50’ features pieces #1 through to #50 from the project. The second print titled; ‘The Next 50’ features pieces #51 - #100 from the project.
The prints measure 110 x 60cm (width x height), are printed on archival museum grade paper (Hahnemühle Photo Rag, 308gsm) and are hand signed and numbered.
Each print is a strictly limited edition of 10.

I so rarely do prints of my work but I am so happy with how these prints have turned out and I think they are very special indeed.
