50 down … 50 to go!
At the start of the year I decided to take on a rather ambitious project.
I set myself the personal challenge to create 100 new embroideries by August 2020.
Why 100? I don’t know really. It just sounded like a good number to aim for.
Why by August? Because that is when my next solo exhibition was booked in and this felt like a great project for that show.
So, since late January I have been steadily chipping away at new work, releasing a new mini embroidery via my social media (Facebook and Instagram) every two days or so. I calculated that I needed to produce 4 embroideries a week to stay on track. So far, I have been keeping up. But having to stay home these last few weeks (with my beautiful but very attention seeking almost-three-year-old daughter) has slowed production significantly. Lots of late night sewing sessions has been necessary to keep the project rolling. But I really don’t mind. I am lucky to be able to bring the sewing part of the process home with me.
For those of you who have been following along on my social media you would know that today marks a rather special turning point in the project.
I just posted piece #50!
I am half way there!
I am on the downward slope!
Woo hoo!
The project is still daunting. I have a feeling that the next 50 designs will be a lot harder to develop than the first 50. But I am looking forward to the challenge.
