Ginkgo Biloba

Ginko-Biloba-detail-bright-web.jpg

I have always loved Ginkgo leaves and have used their delicate fan like forms in several of my artworks. I generally create small Ginkgo leaves but with my newest piece 'Ginkgo Biloba' I felt I needed to go bigger. This piece examines the beautiful internal structure of the Ginkgo while capturing the vibrant yellow/orange that the leaves turn in Autumn.

After dissolving the piece I became fascinated with the structure, I began to play with the leaf, lifting and twisting the piece creating some really lovely three dimensional forms. I took a few quick snaps and a video of the piece being lifted and moved. I think they are to beautiful not to share.

It was almost a shame to mount the work for framing.
