So 2012 is almost over, and what a year it has been!
This has been a roller coaster ride of a year for me, with a constant flow of ups and downs to keep me on my toes. 2012 has been the first year where I feel I can say I am a 'visual artist'. I get a little buzz every time I fill out a form and it asks for my occupation - it feels quite surreal to write 'artist' and I can't help but think that someone is going to pull me up on it one day and tell me 'No - you are not an artist, that's not a real job!' Luckily this awkward situation hasn't occurred just yet, and fingers crossed it never will.
Looking back over the events and accomplishments of this amazing year I am pleasantly surprised with how much has been going on and how much I have managed to cram into these last 50 or so weeks. It may be a little bit self indulgent of me to do this but I feel it is important to celebrate your accomplishments; so to put things in perspective (mostly for myself) here is a brief list of the main events that I feel have shaped this art filled year for me:
I was involved in seven art exhibitions and got to work with some amazing artists
I filmed a TV episode about my artwork with 'Colour in your life'
I had a solo stand at the Sydney Art Expo
I won TWO first place prizes in art competitions - Yippee!
I had my first solo art exhibition in a commercial gallery
This year has also seen me gain representation in three amazing galleries spread across NSW and countless artwork sales. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me on my journey this year. To everyone who has purchased and artwork, come to a show or said lovely things about my work. Your ongoing love and support keep me going and help me to keep doing what I love.
I am looking forward to the new year, I already have a few new and exciting things on the horizon - so stay tuned because 2013 is looking like it will also be a great year!
